Was the Berleezy Nemraps Beef Real
Richard Maurice Barnett (born October 16, 1987), known by the username BlastphamousHD (usually abbreviated to BHD) is a YouTuber that lives in Las Vegas, NV. He has several channels:
- maurice barnett: His first channel containing lots of Early Installment Weirdness of what would later become his BHD Storytime series. The channel has been inactive for quite some time and Maurice considers it Old Shame.
- BlastphamousHD Gaming: A gaming channel, hosting Let's Play videos and episodes of his BHD Storytime series, where he recounts various true stories about his life.
- BlastphamousHD TV: A reaction channel that hosts his most consistent uploading, with seven videos going up daily. Unfortunately, as of 2018, this channel has been terminated.
- BlastphamousHD TV2: A backup reaction channel mainly containing reuploads to use in the case that the main reaction channel is taken down (which it was in 2018).
- BlastphamousHD TV3, Maurice's backup reaction channel in the event that BlastPhamousHD TV2 is taken down due to copyright strikes.
- BHD Gone Wild, a reaction channel for non-family-friendly content.
- BHD Never Scared, a reaction channel for scary videos.
- BlastphamousHD Pranks: A prank and vlog channel. This channel is inactive, and it's concept has been used for another new channel, Maurice Barnett.
- Yung Child Support: Parody raps and music videos. An Ascended Meme based on similar videos made by fellow YouTuber bownsir. This channel was renamed to Maurice Barnett later on and became a vlog/prank channel.
- BlastphamousHD Cooking, a cooking channel.
Blast can also be found on Twitter and does livestreams. On his Twitch where he uploads less frequently, he plays games live and usually for several hours. However, he tries to do streams on YouNow daily where he tells stories.
Additionally, Blast's little brother KT has started his own reaction channel (now defunct) and prank channel. Go show him some love.
This Youtuber provides examples of:
- Actually Pretty Funny: Whenever Maurice watches a "BlastphamousHD Roast" video, at least one joke will have him cracking up.
- Alternate Character Interpretation: Invoked. In one scary video Maurice watched with his girlfriend, a young woman had gotten in bed with a man and received a text from her boyfriend, indicating that she had just gotten in bed with a creepy stranger. Maurice proposed that she was, in fact, cheating, and had come up with the lamest excuse for why she had been unfaithful:
Blast: Oh my god, boyfriend! I thought it was you! How was I supposed to know this dick wasn't yours? It tasted the same!...
- Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: What got him his first criminal penalty was getting into a violent brawl (which was so graphic, that Blast had to lock the story behind Patreon), but what actually got him arrested and sent to jail for two months was, fittingly enough, jaywalking.
- Berserk Button:
- Stupid people tend invoke this reaction in him, as well as Boomerang Bigots.
- Troublemakers who, when confronted on their dickery, claim that 'it was just a joke bruh!' Indeed, one of the few legitimate times BHD did 'edit something out' was when he cut himself off before belting out a "fuck you!" in response to watching a video of a pair of troublemakers using that excuse when caught.
- Bullies really get on his nerves, due to having been bullied as a kid. Anyone in general who tries to target weaker, quieter people just to feel tough seem to really piss Blast off. More so when bullies refuse to acknowledge their wrongdoings and attempt to treat anyone calling them out as overreacting.
- Out-of-control children who disrespect their parents.
- Trolls qualify as well, especially ones who threaten the lives of his friends and family.
- On a more comedic side, joking, or mentioning his apparent age, given that he is much younger than his appearance would suggest, up to and including stop flirting with an attractive girl because she thought that he looked in his thirties (He was 18 at the time!)
- Beware the Nice Ones / Beware the Silly Ones: Although Blast is a nice and funny person, just look at any of Randy's pranks towards Blast on his channel (Dr. J andtheWomen) or the video of him being harassed at VidCon 2016 by a black supremacist who previously threatened to kill him and wished cancer upon his mother note what's especially bad is that his mother actually is a cancer survivor and you'll see that Blast can be genuinely scary when he's properly enraged.
- Black Comedy: His humor sometimes dips into this, especially with him being seen as a Memetic Molester.
- Black Dude Dies First: Subverted. Blast is confident that he will never fall victim to this trope, because he has mentioned many times that he runs as far away from danger as possible.
- Blatant Lies:
- Most of the time, when Maurice says that he'll edit something out.
- Whenever Maurice says that he'll put the link to the original video in the description below.
- His reaction to the drama with psi syndicate contains a lot of lampshades to this. Basically, PSI made a video calling Blast a cunt and put up a link to his channel in the description from which PSI's fans sent hate comments. When Blast confronted him about it he said that he didn't mean to send hate his way when he kept calling him a cock sucking cunt.
- Bowdlerise: thanks to YouTube's policies, Maurice has had to re-upload his videos with large sections of audio cut out (because of cursing or to avoid copyright strikes, such as a reaction video featuring Run by AWOLNATION), or video omitted entirely.
- Catchphrase:
- "What it is guys, it's your boy BlastphamousHD.
- "Leggo." (before beginning gameplay or a reaction)
- "Imma edit that out."
- "Twizzums." (Signing-Off Catchphrase)
- "You LYING!"
- "Fuck shit" being used as a substitute for "fucked up shit".
- "Really, bitch/nigga?"
- "I'd'a beat his ass." (when someone aggravates someone else)
- "It really be like that, though."
- "Bet you he'll/she'll shut the fuck up next time!"
- He refers to big breasts as "spring break titties".
- "NIIIIGGAAAA!"
- "He/she be fucking up."
- "How else did you think that would go?" (when, for example, watching a video of someone stupidly hurting themselves in a scenario that couldn't have ended differently or positively)
- "Is this what's good in the streets?"
- "RUN, BITCH!"
- "Cocaine is a hell of a drug."
- "When fucking up/turn up goes bad/wrong."
- "...and that's real." (90% of the time delivered in a hushed voice.)
- He will describe giving someone a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown as giving them "the wet works".
- "Come ooon titty!" (whenever he sees a thirst trap)
- "That's a fight." (whenever he sees someone do something aggravating to someone else)
- "This is what happens when you don't beat your kids!" (whenever he sees a child acting inappropriate for their age... or any age, really)
- "This bitch looks like X!" (usually Mr. Belvedere) when seeing an extremely unattractive women.
- He will usually refers to morbidly obese people as "Pillsbury Dough Boy/Girl".
- "Not the babies!" (when seeing children being harmed or acting sexual)
- "What's really fucked up is..."
- "Do you think this is gonna get the bitches?" (whenever he sees men awkwardly and sometimes creepily trying to pick up women)
- "We the black delegation would like to trade (insert stupid black person here)."
- "...out this bitch" is a phrase Blast uses regularly, usually as a suffix for his saying that someone looks like something/someone else. For example:
Blast: (after seeing Sam Pepper dressed in all white in his diss track to RiceGum) Why does this nigga look like a rapping Marshmallow Man out this bitch?
- "These bars are struggling!" (when listening to someone attempting to rap and failing horribly)
- "What type of freak nasty shit?!" (when hearing about something, most of the time sexual, that is incredibly bizarre and/or disgusting)
- "Doin' too much!" (when seeing someone do something heavily overcompensated or just out of their skill level)
- Blast also refers to doing extra as doing "extracurricular shit".
- Blast has adopted Dashie's "pause" as a Borrowed Catchphrase to use in its original purpose, to point out accidental innuendos.
- "But yeah, man!"
- "Word?", which is used with the same connotation and meaning as "Really?".
- "That is where buttermilk comes from." (when seeing a particularly chubby person).
- (after seeing someone saying or doing something stupid) "I'm so mad."
- Theorizes any shady or creepy people may have "a well full of missing kids."
- (after witnessing something scary or creepy) "I would die immediately."
- "It's different!" (when watching someone regret picking a fight)
- "Wooooooow!" (used mainly in his Family Guy reactions, when seeing an incredibly offensive joke.)
- Cleveland: He lived there for a while, and it is the source of many of the crazy things that happened to him.
- Cluster F-Bomb: Blast is no stranger to cursing, but whenever he's either playing horror games or reacting to hair-raising stuff in general note lucky him, the latter's nothing for him to worry about, expect him to pause the video and take off with a flurry of "fuck" and "shit" being heard in the distance.
- Cordon Bleugh Chef: His stepmother was infamous to him for making meals that should be delicious on paper, but ended up being completely disgusting. Of note, she served him undercooked fried chicken that still had a layer of slime between the skin and the meat, ramen noodles that weren't separated because they were cooked in cooking oil, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that were topped with mayonnaise. Maurice obviously didn't eat them, but bizarrely, her children devoured these meals as if they were delicious.
- A Date with Rosie Palms:
- In one of his videos, when complaining about the influx of Hot Teachers nowadays when there were very little back when he was in middle and high school, Maurice says that he was the only person who ever touched his penis back in the day, "and that shit got old..really quick!"
- One of his BHD Storytimes centers on an obese woman who was masturbating in public.
- Department of Redundancy Department: From "6 Shocking & Disturbing Moments Caught on Video REACTION!":
"A lot of people may not know this, but falling to death is the leading cause of death [due to] falling in the US."
- Didn't Think This Through: Has broken an Xbox controller and a pair of headphones from jumping out of his chair so often.
- Drugs Are Bad: Blast himself doesn't smoke, drink, or use any drugs, and was deterred from drugs after seeing a lot of the people in his neighborhood as a child throw their lives away to cocaine.
- Face Palm: His reaction to being scared by a cheap Jump Scare note Though not before screaming first. or seeing something really stupid (like hearing that people fell for the "Nigerian prince" scams when they requested things like bank account information).
- Fate Worse than Death: At the end of this reaction video, Blast says that he sympathizes for Charlie Sheen due to his having HIV, and says that he wouldn't inflict the disease on his worst enemy.
- Fix It in Post: Zig-Zagged. Maurice will often forget to edit out something cringe worthy he says, but sometimes he does.
- Hell Is That Noise: His reaction to IceJJFish's music video for "On The Floor".
- Hypocritical Humor: Shown hilariously in this video:
- I Know Karate: Studied Mixed Martial Arts in his youth and has been in many fights. Though he didn't win all of them.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Claims to be a Jerkass, but is clearly far kinder than he admits...
- Jerkass Ball: ...save for some moments where he can be genuinely mean-spirited.
- His first Instagram upload is a video of him comforting his sad girlfriend...by playing Gary Jules' "Mad World".
- Large Ham:
- He does seem rather loud and energetic in his videos. As a BHD Storytime states, his family acts the same way.
- Not only invokes Screams Like a Little Girl whenever he gets Jump Scared, but also tends to dive out of his chair in the process.
- Left It In: Every moment Maurice says he'll edit something out.
- Lovable Coward: Easily scared, and we love him for it.
- Loving Bully: Attempted and it nearly cost him his life. In BHD Storytime #22, he discusses an incident where he asked out his junior high crush and was rejected. So he started picking on the girl in an attempt to receive attention from her, He takes it too far by pushing her down in the hallway, unaware that she was pregnant . The next day, the girl's gang-banger fiancee, Virgilio came to the school with a gun and was going to kill him! Miraculously, Maurice decided to skip school that day, and the girl eventually told Virgilio that Maurice didn't go to that school anymore.
- Manipulative Editing: As of late, BHD Army members have been making videos that are based around taking several different sentences spoken by Blast, chopping them up together, and forming a single statement that is often far crasser than the originals. A lot of them are about his supposed attraction to children, for example.
- No Brows: Was this in 2016 as a result of a drunk dare gone wrong. To this day, you can still find comments joking about it, calling Blast things such as "Black Voldemort" or a giant Milk Dud, or quipping that his eyebrows would make a triumphant return when he hits one million subscribers on his reaction channel.
- Oh, Crap!: His reaction to this video.
Reporters: Creepy clown sightings are happening all over the country, including here, in the Metro.
Maurice: THE METRO!? NIGGA I'M IN THE METRO! THE FUCK! IS THIS IN VEGAS!? - OOC Is Serious Business: In one of his reaction videos with Randy, they begin discussing hoodies that make them look like white people and what they would say if they pretended to be white. Randy actually says something that gets edited out and the entire fanbase tries to figure out what he said.
- Pædo Hunt: Literally went on a hunt when he found out that a white office worker named Mike, who was in his late 30s, was dating his younger sister, who was only 15, with his older sister's graces due to her getting paid by him. He went with Mike to his office, firmly told him to stop dating his sister, and when Mike tried to defend their pedophilic relationship, they got into a fistfight, with Blast coming out on top by a landslide. Mike attempted to get back at him by pulling up to his apartment, completely jittery, and getting ready to pull a gun on him. It wasn't until Mike ran into BHD's family, cooked up on drugs and offering to play hockey with Maurice (when there aren't any hockey teams in the area of Las Vegas that Blast lives), that they finally realized he was bad news.
- Parental Sexuality Squick: According to Blast, the scariest thing that ever happened in his entire life was him, at the age of 5, waking up at 2 in the morning needing to go to the bathroom, thinking thinking there were monsters everywhere out to get him, and finally opening the bathroom door to find his mom having sex. The last part was the scariest thing to him, since as a child, he believed that all mothers are wholesome saints who rebuke sex in the name of Jesus. This was so scarring, that he ended up perceiving the experience as just a bad dream, until he was 11 and saw his mom reading letters from a guy in prison, who turned out to be the man she had sex with. The kicker is that this man in prison turned out to be KT's father, and Blast never told him.
- Porn Stache: Had a "pedo" stache in his early videos.
- His pedostache appears to be growing back as of April 2018 however.
- Porn Stash: Has openly stated that he has porn on his computer, and at one point got hit with a virus disguised as an FBI statement accusing him of having child porn on his computer.
- Poverty Food:
- As a child, his family was dirt-poor, so he had very little food to work with, mainly settling for ramen noodles.
- Averted when he was in prison. Contrary to what the stereotype said, prison food didn't taste like literal shit to him. Rather, he described all the food as having no sugar, to the point of there being sugarless sugar cookies.
- Prematurely Bald: Has had male pattern baldness since at least his late teens, and it's a constant source of ridicule for him, including Self-Deprecation.
- Reality Is Unrealistic:
- Has gotten complaints that his Up to Eleven reactions to Jump Scares are just faked for Rule of Funny. And has addressed them by confessing that yes, Jump Scares bother him that badly in Real Life.
- His entire personality in general. He has frequently stated in videos that fans who have met him have expressed shock that the way he behaves in person is the same as the way he is on-camera. (Most YouTubers tend to exaggerate their personas to entertain viewers and are much more reserved in real life).
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: He's the red to Randy (Dr.J andtheWomen)'s blue.
- Running Gag:
- Whenever he gets scared and jumps out of his chair, it will almost always have replay of the scene in slow motion, with the caption "Black People Reflexes".
- Whenever he has a particularly bad jumpscare reaction (or was acting macho before hand), there will be a quick clip of BHD screaming "[I'm] NEVER SCARED!"
- On his reaction channel, he might accidentally say bits of his outro in his intro; sometimes, vice versa.
- Jokes about his baldness.
- BHD trying (and failing) to keep monetization for his videos by avoiding swearing.
- Maurice saying he'll edit something out and forgetting to do so in post.
- Maurice facepalming after he screams at something in a video, especially when it's a jumpscare.
- Maurice convulsing with held-in laughter during his Try Not To Laugh challenges, followed by him claiming that it didn't count towards his total number of laughs.
- Screaming at Squick: This video.
- Screams Like a Little Girl: Especially here.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here!: If he gets scared too many times in a row.
- Up to Eleven: Even when playing the scariest games, Maurice usually plays at least twice before giving up. Five Nights at Freddy's 4 was so scary to him that he gave up after being scared once.
- Self-Deprecation: Blast likes to riff on himself through embarrassing stories and such, and says that he likes to joke about himself since he doesn't know how others will take it if he doesn't do that. He brought up one time where he cracked a rape joke at a party with a group of people, and one of those people happened to be a girl who had been raped.
- He thinks it's pretty funny when roasters compare his bald head to a Milk Dud.
- He's also a self-admitted premature ejaculator, and is pretty cool about it. In a video dedicated to tricky riddles, when asked "What comes once a minute, twice a moment, and never in a thousand years?" ( the letter 'm'), his response?
BHD: Uh...me. I dunno anything else that can come sooner. (hushed whisper) And that's real. "
- Signing-Off Catchphrase: "It's ya boy BlastphamousHD — twizzums."
- Space Whale Aesop: In his reaction to The Greatest Freakout Ever: "Don't spoil people, because the minute you say no, they'll try to shove a remote control up their ass."
- There Is No Kill Like Overkill: As of his latest upgrade, his camera equipment costs over 12000 dollars. To put that in perspective his car costs 10000$.
- Trademark Favorite Food:
- He talks about Flamin' Hot Cheetos a lot.
- As a child, he had an addiction to Bubblicious Tropical Punch.
- Un-Entendre: When reacting to Berleezy's "Pokemon EXPOSED" video, in response to Brock's famous line "She can violate my rights!", Blast makes a comment on how men can turn anything that they overhear from a female into a sexual innuendo, using Jeff Foxworthy's "rotating tires" bit as an example. Said bit goes like this:
Girl: And then I need to rotate my tires.
That Guy Who Can Turn Any Comment Into a Sexual Innuendo: I'd sure like to rotate her tires. - Wardrobe Malfunction: Possibly invoked whenever Maurice sees a woman with clothes in danger of falling off and says "Come on, titties!"
- Wham Episode: "WE BROKE UP :(". They got back together a few months later though.
- Wham Line: Used for comedy in this video:
Lady: I don't know what I'm gonna do without my dog. note BHD's brother ran into a burning building to save the dog, which he believed to be the woman's baby.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: His two biggest fears are water and ghosts. The latter is actually pretty justified: he grew up in a house that he believed was haunted. The former is also pretty justified: when on a class outing on a boat when he was 8 years old, he went overboard.
- Would Hit a Girl / Wouldn't Hit a Girl: Zigzags between the two. On one hand, he claims that if a girl started punching him he probably wouldn't hit her back. On the other hand, be also claims that if she tried to maim or kill him he would not hold back against her.
- Ye Olde Butcherede Englishe: Invoked and lampshaded in his "5 Dumb Internet Scams People Actually Fell For" reaction, where he finds out that the famous "Nigerian Prince" scams can make over $12 billion in one year and says that he wants to adopt a fake identity as Nigerian royalty (if it's that easy to make a ridiculous amount of money) complete with "fake prince slang accent bullshit".
"Dost twat want to haveth millions of dollarseth? Sendeth me 12,000 dollars USD-eth, and I shall twivetnot a hugeth amounteth of moneyeth into thine bank account [cavern]..place..website."
- Younger Than They Look: As noted above, Maurice wasn't even thirty years old before many people started mistaking him (most times jokingly) for being middle-aged. According to him, this happened as early as when he was '"eighteen''.
